Getting Ready for Prom 2014

Hey everyone!

I am truly sorry that I have not been updating lately! I have been super busy with AP tests and other school work. I know that is no excuse and I did promise that I would update more and post some great stuff, and I am soooo sorry! Thank you to those of you who are still here! I really will work hard to keep up my promise. Anyways, graduation is right around the corner and everything is happening so fast. But before the school year ends, there is of course PROM!

To those of you who do not know what prom is, prom is a dance that typically seniors have at the end of the school year. It is this one special event that only seniors have, but they can invite underclassmen and others though. Some schools have a junior prom as well; mine only has one for the seniors.

I know that you guys will want to get all dolled up and look picture perfect for prom. However, occasionally there can be some issues that you may stumble upon. Here are some tips to ensure that you get to experience the perfect prom!

Looking for a Dress
The dress is very important. Whichever dress you decide on should be one that fits the occasion and is unique. Try on your dress beforehand and make sure it fits the way you want it to. Your dress should be comfortable enough that you can move around without having to adjust it every 5 seconds. Also, be sure to check that your shoes not only match your dress, but that the dress is the perfect length for your shoes. If not, you can always get your dress hemmed.

Hair and Makeup
It doesn’t matter where you go to get your makeup done. As long as you are satisfied with it, that is the only thing that matters. For me personally, I like to do my own makeup simply because I know exactly how I like things and I trust myself to do a good job. Hair, on the other hand, that is a different story. Whereas for makeup you can quickly and easily remove it if you do not like how it turns out, you cannot fix your hair as easily. Make sure that you go to a stylist that fits your requirements. Do not go to a place you have never been to before. Talk to your stylist and go to a place that you know well or that someone you trust recommends. Once your hair is done, it’s a lot more difficult to fix what with all the product and styling it goes through. I mean, do you want to wash and dry and restyle your hair? Because that sure would take longer to do than to redo unsatisfactory makeup. Also, know your hair and know your skin. If your hair tends to uncurl easily or whatnot, do not get your hair done too early or else it will look completely disheveled by the time of the dance. For some people, makeup tends to look better after wearing it for several hours; if that is the case, definitely have your makeup done first before anything else. If it is the complete opposite where your skin is super oily and makeup does not last well, try to do your makeup last and bring a few items to touch up.

What to Bring
You do not want to go to the dance and find that you are not prepared! Bring a small clutch or purse and pack a few necessities. I recommend to bring a pack of tissues, a lip gloss or lipstick that you were using, lip balm, concealer, band-aids, your ID, mints or gum, and at least an extra 10 bucks. Don’t forget a few quarters in case that something comes early and there is a dispenser thing in the bathroom (you know what I mean right? Mother Nature’s wonderful monthly gift).

That’s all I can think of for now. If I happen to have more tips, I will definitely let you know! I hope that those of you going to prom this year will have a wonderful time! My own prom is in about week, I can’t even believe it. I am not even done with fixing up my dress yet! Anyways, let me know how it goes for you guys!

Til next time,
~A
