Winter Wedding Essentials: Inspiration for What We Often Overlook

winter wedding essentials

Hey everyone!

As winter is fast approaching us, the idea of a winter wedding is becoming more real, more magical, more alluring. Having a wedding in the winter just has this certain appeal to it that can’t quite be explained in words. Maybe it’s because it’s the best time of year to feel like a true princess at your wedding. Or is that just me?

I was inspired by The Black Tux, a tuxedo rental company, to create this post. They have a great selection of tuxes for that special guy in your life. Or lady, whichever way you roll. Some women can pull off a tux, but this site has tuxes tailored for men, so yeah, just lettin’ you guys know.

Like most young girls do, I have been imagining and planning out my wedding ever since I was young. I thought I would share with you today, some inspiration for winter wedding essentials of stuff that we tend to overlook.

The Black Tux is the perfect place to turn to if you are ever in need of a tux. Remember that moment in How I Met Your Mother when Marshall ended up using a black sharpie to fill in the holes his ratty, old and tattered suit had? Yeah, that made for a hilarious, comedic moment in the episode, but it sure won’t be funny if that were to happen at your wedding. You would definitely want your man to be looking all dapper on that special day, correct? People typically think of choosing the perfect wedding dress when it comes to weddings, and neglect to consider how the tux would look. The Black Tux is definitely a great place to check out for this season’s wedding must-haves!

Next off, hair and makeup. We are so set on the dress we want that we tend to forget what hair and makeup to do. Because this is supposed to be our special day, I advise you to NOT TRY OUT A NEW LOOK! Find a look that you know you like and feel confident in. Don’t choose your wedding day to be bold and go for the trendy cut-crease look when you typically do a natural smokey-eye. No. You are gonna set yourself up for, not failure per se, but a day full of anxiety. You don’t want to feel nervous about how you look. But, what you can do is try out the look you want to go for at least three times before your wedding to get a feel of how you will look. Confidence is key.

I love scavenging through YouTube to find great hair ideas and tutorials. Here are a few that I think would be amazing for a winter wedding!

Tina from MakeupWearables Hairstyles

Here’s a second option from Tina from MakeupWearables Hairstyles. She always has wonderful hair options. Most great Instagram-worthy hairstyles are done on blonde hair, but here’s an example of some that can be done on brunettes that look fantastic!

Amber Fillerup from BarefootBlonde

Abby Smith from Twist Me Pretty.
Here’s an option for one that isn’t an updo. You don’t have to pick an updo for a wedding.

Or, you could check out a recent hairstyle I did that would be perfect for any wedding or formal event! Shameless plug, anyone? Yeah I’m very clever like that. (pats self on back)

Another wedding essential that I think is often overlooked is the music. Music is definitely an important thing to consider when creating a particular mood. Here are some of my top choices that I personally would want for my own wedding.

“For You” by Angus and Julia Stone
This song was played multiple times throughout the series Revenge. I think that it really conveys a deep love and affection for someone, whether it be your lover, soulmate, family member, or close friend. This is a great song.

“I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain
One reason why I like this song is because it played in A Cinderella Story, the one with Hilary Duff. It is such a classic slow-dance love song.

“Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran
This song is definitely perfect! It conveys such eternal love and happiness, a great pick for a wedding!

“You and Me” by Lifehouse
There’s something about this song that really makes me feel like I watching a happy rejoicing moment in a rom-com.

“Make You Feel My Love” by Adele
Is there anyone out there who doesn’t feel the deep emotion and love in her voice? Simply said, Adele is queen.

“One and Only” by Adele
I just HAD TO add in TWO Adele songs. She is my above-all favorite. Her songs have so much emotion, she’s definitely one of my top picks!

These are just a few of my winter wedding essentials, in terms of things we tend to forget about when planning out our weddings.

Definitely check out The Black Tux for some great picks for tuxedos and other wedding necessities for your special man. It doesn’t even have to be for a wedding, if you got some other formal events coming up, head over to their site!
